Cut in at 12MPH winds. Maintains 12V+ down to 8MPH. Max wind speed shown is 15MPH and rotational speed is 480RPM.
Built from a modified car alternator design and capable of 1600 watts but with the 5 blade turbine, it should max out at around 800 watts.
Yesterday and today, I started re-working the little turbine. It now sits on a mast about 20 feet high. Since winds are forecast in the ares today, I had to hurry and found myself actually standing the thing up in the dark. It's mounted to my little gantry crane in the driveway and is high enough that the house and garage don't mess up the wind too much. But... I am still surrounded by trees, which makes the wind unpredictable. It aims quickly in as little as 3 or 4 MPH winds but won't start spinning until the wind hits around 12MPH. Even then, output voltage is just under 12 volts but at 15 MPH, there is enough to charge the batteries.
